Global Load Sensing Valves Market Definition
A Load Sensing Valves (L.S.V.) serves the purpose of automatically adapting the brake pressure and therefore the brake force is controlled according to the load of the vehicle. The load sensing valve regulator is attached with different types of screws, nuts, and washers to the attachment holes that are further drilled into the assembly. Load-sensing valve is a type of variable pump control used in open circuits. It is also termed this due to its load-induced pressure downstream of an orifice being sensed and pump flow is adjusted to maintain a constant pressure drop (and therefore flow) across the orifice.
The orifice is typically a directional control valve that has proportional flow characteristics, but a needle valve or even a fixed orifice is easily employed, depending on the application. A load-sensing controlled variable pump can eliminate these inefficiencies. The power lost due to heat is limited to the relatively small pressure drop across the metering orifice, which is held constant across the system’s operating pressure range. A load-sensing circuit consists of a variable displacement pump, an axial-piston design, fitted with a load-sensing controller, and a directional control valve with an integral load-signal gallery.
The load-signal gallery is further connected to the load-signal port on the pump controller. The load-signal gallery in the directional control valve connects the ports of the control valve sections through a series of shuttle valves. This ensures that the actuator with the highest load pressure is sensed by the machine and fed back to the pump control. The load-sensing controller responds quickly to the increasing load pressure by slightly increasing pump displacement (flow) so that pressure upstream of the orifice increases by a corresponding amount. This keeps the pressure drop constantly across the orifice (directional valve) constant, which keeps flowing constant, and in this case, winch speed is constant.

The load sensing valve is mounted to the chassis of the vehicle to control the cable together with the spring is mounted and a bracket is bolted or welded to the axle. The control cable is completely secured with the control lever of the load sensing valve using a clamp. When unloading the vehicle, the tension spring pulls the control lever downwards over the cable. Whenever the vehicle is loaded, the control lever is automatically raised by a spiral spring until the control cable is tensioned. High-end load-sensing directional control valves give a pressure compensator at the inlet to each valve section.
The section pressure compensator works with the spool-selected orifice opening to maintain an equal flow rate, independent of the pressure variations caused by the operation of multiple functions at the same time. This is sometimes also known as sensitive load-sensing. Due to the variable pump producing the flow demanded only by the actuators, load-sensing control is energy efficient (fewer losses to heat) which further results in lower oil oxidation rates, longer fluid life, and improvement in actuator control. The shock absorber mounted on the control lever, along with the tension spring, takes up the dynamic impact caused by unevenness in the road.
The load sensing valve operates statically, where changes in the spring path that occurs during braking do not change the control ratio. The load sensing valve has a slight lock during braking.
