A supercapacitor electrostatically retailers potential energy inside itself. High power throughput allows charging and discharging in a fraction of time. Supercapacitors have much higher power density than batteries. This makes them ideal for high energy consumption applications such as powering electric vehicles. They have a long service life, do not heat much due to internal resistance, and can store and release energy.
