June 2023, GAIL (India) Ltd acquired the Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)
manufacturing facility of JBF Petrochemicals Ltd and established a new entity,
GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd (GMPL). As part of the acquisition, GAIL
invested Rs 2,100 crore into the financially troubled private-sector company
JBF Petrochemicals Ltd, which was acquired through bankruptcy proceedings.
